Location and access
Galinee property is located 20 kilometres south of the town of Matagami in east Abitibi. The property consists of 56 mining claims for an area of 1414 Hectares
Geology
The rocks in this area are part of the greenstone Chibougamau-Matagami belt. The property geology is not well known. The compilation map and geological survey in this area do not show any outcrop on the property. The geology was interpreted by aerial geophysics survey and by diamond drill holes. The property area in mainly composed of sedimentary rock of the Taïbi group. They are mainly fine grained bedded siltstone with a well defined schistosity. The contact between the sedimentary rocks and volcanic rocks from Wabassee group is located directly north of the property. This pyroclastic sequence lay out for many kilometres. The Taïbi group rocks are cut by numerous sills and some acid to basic dykes.
Mineralization
A gold showing was found in the north-east part of the property. Hole C-1, drilled in 1959 by Camflo Mattagami Mines Ltd intercepted values of 1,37 gr/t Au on 0.9 metre; 6,0 gr/t Au on 0,60 metre and 5,49 gr/t Au on 0,15 metre. These mineralized zones are associated with quartz veins in some granitic dykes.
